Jana Osīte, Laboratory Doctor, Head of “Central Laboratory”: “We, the employees of “Central Laboratory”, are very glad that the charity marathon “Dod pieci!” this year has chosen a range of issues that make people think about relationships with dignity, about mutual understanding and to turn against the damage done by any violence. For almost 300 days we have been working long hours to succeed in overcoming the health crisis together. Against the background of the pandemic, we very much want to prevent a wall of misunderstanding forming between the members of our society and to prevent breeding ground for all forms of violence. It’s a pleasure to watch how the organizers of “Dod pieci!” and the DJs are able to unite the community and to invite people perform their share of good deeds during these difficult times. Therefore, we are glad we could support them through out professional performance by performing Covid-19 tests for the marathon’s DJs before the week spent in special and intensive work, therefore helping the organizers ensure an epidemiologically safe environment in the studio.”

Since March “Central Laboratory” has performed 263 248 SARS Cov 2 PCR tests. In the spring, every day, including on holidays, mobile brigades provided 100-150 home visits throughout the country. In recent months, CL mobile teams have traveled to schools, kindergartens, nursing homes and companies every day to test staff collectively. CL has the largest number of Covid-19 testing points in Latvia – currently 29 sampling points.

In order to comply with safety requirements, the organizers of the charity marathon received expert consultations from the Center for Disease and Prevention Control, which apply to the work of DJs, the technical team, guests and donors. This year, the DJs are separated from the studio guests by a glass wall and the number of guests in the studio is limited. This year’s charity marathon “Dod pieci!” will focus on domestic violence – a complex and multi-layered topic, touching upon emotional, physical, financial and other forms of violence between family members in order to resolve the situations and seek new avenues.

“Central Laboratory” has been operating in Latvia since 1994, and currently it is one of the most modern and technologically best equipped laboratories in the Baltics. The company has 66 branches throughout Latvia, which together employ more than 300 qualified employees. “Central Laboratory” can perform a full range of tests, including DNA tests. Sets of preventive tests are offered, which are specially developed for different groups: office workers, seniors, athletes, vegetarians, women and children. More information at www.laboratorija.lv
