In order to promote the development of paralympic sports in the regions of Latvia, to popularize them among children and young people, as well as to ensure the participation of professional para-athletes in international level competitions, “Mēness aptieka” will be the general sponsor of the Latvian Paralympic Committee for the next three years, providing support which amounts to 120,000 euros per year.

On Tuesday, 26 May, a long-term cooperation agreement was signed between the Latvian Paralympic Committee and the pharmacy company “Mēness aptieka” of the group of health companies “Repharm”, opening new opportunities for the development of the Paralympic movement in Latvia. Thus, “Mēness aptieka” has officially become the first general sponsor in the history of the Latvian Paralympic Committee. The support provided by “Mēness aptieka” will cover 27 different paralympic and adapted sports, involving more than 6,000 people throughout Latvia.

“We are extremely proud of our first general sponsor, which will be an invaluable support on the road to success. For years, public funding has not been sufficient for the day-to-day needs and development of paralympic sports, so the support of private sponsors is particularly important. We are glad that, despite the current situation, where most companies review their finances and stop supporting other organizations, “Mēness aptieka” is a stable partner we can count on,” says Daiga Dadzīte, President of the Latvian Paralympic Committee.

“We see it as our duty to support a healthy lifestyle and the spirit of athletic growth in Latvia. “Mēness aptieka” will be a stable support for para-athletes over a period of several years to create an opportunity for athletes to continue training, take care of better training opportunities, inspire and build mutually supportive and friendly relationships. This is not a contract for fulfilling short-term tasks, but a statement of care and willingness to support those who need this support so much, therefore inspiring and calling everyone to responsible action,” says Dins Šmits, Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Repharm” Group.

One of the long-term goals of the cooperation is to support the development of paralympic sports in the regions of Latvia, as well as to increase the popularity of children’s and youth parasports. The support provided by “Mēness aptieka” will also help professional para-athletes – both in the preparation phase for the competition and by supporting the participation of athletes in international level competitions.

The cooperation agreement was signed by Daiga Dadzīte, President of the Latvian Paralympic Committee, and Dins Šmits, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the “Repharm” group of health companies, in the presence of the paralympians Rihards Snikus and Aigars Apinis, as well as the representatives of the pharmacy company “Mēness aptieka” and the Paralympic Committee.
